The man who’s credited with creating the “Wall of Sound” orchestration style is destined to spend the rest of his life behind the prison walls! Ahoy, mates! Phil Spector, the legendary music producer, was convicted Monday of second-degree murder in the shooting death of struggling film actress/waitress Lana Clarkson at his mansion six years ago.
Lana Clarkson met Spector on Feb 3, 2003 at the House of Blues, where she was working as a hostess. When the party ended, she was offered a chauffeured ride to Spector’s home for a drink. Three hours later, she was found dead at Spector’s home. She died of a gunshot fired in her mouth.
Spector had emerged lucky in a previous trial in 2007 that ended with a deadlocked jury, but the current trial sealed his fate and secured his place behind the bars. Spector’s defense maintained that Clarkson was not happy with her lackluster acting career and had committed suicide, but the prosecutors argued that Spector had shot her in a fit of rage after she rejected his advances.
Spector, 69, faces anywhere between 18 years to life in prison. The judge remanded him to jail immediately and he will be sentenced on May 29.
