Jessica Simpson Sues OK! Magazine Over ‘Bogus’ Article
Sayudh | Jan 28 2008

Celebrated American pop singer and actress Jessica Simpson has taken offence over a recent article published in the ‘OK!’. The article in question delved into the singer’s relationship with Tony Romo, the Dallas Cowboy quarterback.

This article, headlined ‘Jessica Dumped’, has evoked strong reactions from Simpson’s attorneys. Describing the publication of the article as part of a ‘smear campaign’ against the singer, the lawyers have also demanded a ‘prominent and unambiguous’ retraction to be printed by the ‘OK!’ magazine.

According to reports, Simpson’s attorneys have stated that the singer and Romo are still together, thereby reducing the article published in the OK! magazine to a ‘bogus’ piece of news. A letter has also been sent to the editor-in-chief of ‘OK!’, Sarah Ivens, claiming the falsity of the article.

Describing the article in question as ‘utterly false’ and ‘based on nothing more than rumor, gossip and innuendo’, the singer’s lawyers have said that it resulted in their client having to face ‘ public contempt, ridicule, aversion or disgrace’. Hence, they have demanded for an immediate retraction by the ‘OK!’ magazine.
